What is acetic acid water and when is it needed?
Most lyophilised peptides dissolve readily in bacteriostatic water. A minority — typically longer, more hydrophobic sequences, or peptides supplied as a salt that aggregates near neutral pH — remain hazy, form gel-like clumps, or precipitate. Lowering the pH with a small amount of dilute acetic acid protonates acidic side chains, increases net positive charge and breaks up aggregates, so the peptide goes into solution cleanly.
ClaraScience acetic acid water is a sterile 0.6% (v/v) acetic acid solution in water for reconstitution. It is used as a first-step solvent only: dissolve the peptide in a small volume of acetic acid water, then bring the vial to its final volume with bacteriostatic water so the working solution has the preservative and a near-neutral pH for storage.
In the ClaraScience range it is recommended for AOD-9604 and Tesamorelin; it is not needed for BPC-157, TB-500, Ipamorelin, CJC-1295 or the GLP-1 class peptides. For laboratory research use only.

Use. First-step solvent for hydrophobic or aggregation-prone peptides; then top up with bacteriostatic water.
Not for. Routine reconstitution of water-soluble peptides — use bacteriostatic water alone.
How to use acetic acid water
1. Dissolve. Swab both stoppers. Add a small volume of acetic acid water — typically 0.2–0.5mL for a 5–10mg vial — down the inside wall of the peptide vial. Swirl gently until the solution is completely clear. Do not shake.
2. Top up. Add bacteriostatic water to reach the final volume you calculated with the reconstitution calculator. The preservative in the bacteriostatic water is what allows multi-dose use; the acetic acid fraction is small enough that the final solution is only mildly acidic.
3. Check and store. The final solution should stay clear. If haze returns after topping up, the acid fraction was too small — start again with a slightly larger first-step volume. Label with the reconstitution date and store at 2–8°C; use within 28 days. Full method: Reconstitution Guide.
